AE
Unique dialect of Sampit people is using “ae”. Never search this word in dictionary! (Why? I don’t know, wasting time, hehehe) commonly we use it for statement. For example :
Lisa : Jadi bagaimana? (So, how?)
Nina : Ya… dipaksakan ae.. (Yeah… force it…)
Sometimes ae also written ai, in texting we usually write it æ
Ae usually use for a final statement and nothing can do beside it.

Food you have to try!
Because Sampit is the harbor and trading town, so there are so many foods in Sampit. The major food in Sampit is Banjar cuisine.
Nasi Goreng
Ah, maybe it’s usual food if you have ever come to Indonesia, but, I think every place has its unique characteristic! Nasi Goreng in Sampit is sweet and spicy. We usually use Beras Unus as the rice, it’s one of top quality rice.

Nasi Kuning
Nasi means rice, Kuning means yellow, Nasi Kuning is yellow rice, hahaha! I recommend you to search nasi kuning located near Pelabuhan (harbor) and PPM (Pusat Perbelanjaan Mentaya; Mentaya Trading Center), it’s the generation to generation Nasi Kuning. This is small shop, and please come in early, because you will get nothing after 6 A.M.
(picture and map coming soon!)
Seasonal food (you can’t get it every time!)
Dami
Dami is a Tiwadak fruit (similar to jackfruit, but not jackfruit!) skin. The skin cleaned and fried. It’s the food for eating with rice. Really yummy!
Bingka
It’s a cake with flower-shaped-like. Bingka come from Banjar, it’s only shown up in Sampit in Ramadhan month, when the people is do fasting.
